Spaghetti Sauce with Ground Beef
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb ground beef
- 5 (or more!) - big mushrooms, sliced
- 1 - onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves (or more - we use close to a whole bulb!) - Garlic, minced finely
- 2 tsp. dried basil
- 1 tsp. dried oregano
- 1 tbsp. dried parsley
- 2 cans tomato sauce
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup red wine (optional)
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
Instructions
- Brown ground beef over a medium heat breaking up with spatula as it cooks.
- Add mushrooms and onion and cook with the beef for a few minutes or until onion is tender.
- Add garlic and cook until fragrant
- Add red wine
- Add cans of tomato
- Bring to the boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, over low heat for as long as you have time (at least 10 - 15 minutes)
Here’s a quick Spaghetti Bolognese recipe – an old standby – that no one can resist!
Although it’s not much to look at (we were a little horrified to see it up-close-and-personal on the home page!), it’s a delicious & satisfying meal, best enjoyed with any kind of side salad, a glass of red wine, perhaps, and if you really don’t care about carbs, some garlic bread is always fabulous.
